The new season is now underway with the 1st and 2nd teams having played 4 games each, the 1st have won 4 and at present top the table while the 2nds have won 2 and lost 2 .The Sunday side have started their matches with a win over East & West Hendred.

The 1st team won their first league game of the season,  restricting Trowbridge to 146 with Duncan Clark taking  6 wickets and Hamish Millar with 48  helped the team win by 4 wickets, they followed this up with a trip to Keevil on a very cold Saturday, Hamish stayed warm hitting 86 while Mike Heasman took  5 wickets and  Josh Forth took the last wicket with a slow bouncer (a policy taken up by England a few days later  ! ) to win the game by 5 runs. The side kept their 100% record with a 55 run win over Wilcot , batting first we were in trouble at 124 for 8 but Andy Morbey (41) and Forthy (16 n.o) meant we reached 183 which was too much for Wilcot as Chris Burgess and Duncan shared 7 wickets. The side then made the trip to All Cannings and on a nice sunny day bowled first, Namat on his 1st team debut bowled a good 6 over spell while Will Townsend returned to 1st team action taking 2 wickets , we restricted All Cannings to 183 for 8. Hamish again gave us a good start scoring 46 while John Morton with 36 not out and Louis Bouwers 67 not out saw us home by 7 wickets.

The 2nd XI, travelled to Burbage 3rds  ,  Richard Gardiner bowled a blinding spell of 8-31  ,this wrapped up the Burbage innings for 140 . Then came the batting, this was probably an innings most wanted to forgot with the team eventually being all bowled out for 38. Will Townsend (5 for 15) and Jon ‘The  Destroyer’ Slack (3 for 18) bowled out Goatacre 3rds for 90. Herbie Townsend and Monty Green guided the team to 65-1 after this there was an epic collapse to 78-9 but the level-headed duo of R.Gardiner and Burgess, gave the team a nail-biting 1 wicket victory.
Another close game saw the 2nds beat Beanacre 2nds by 5 runs with Monty Green with 42 and Liam Farmer 35 top scoring and Jonny Gardiner taking 4 wickets. At home to Box 2nds Monty with 28 and Paul and Liam Farmer with 21 each helped post a score of 154 but Box  reached the total with 5 wickets to spare .

The u13’s went through to the next round of the cup after scoring 157 against Witney Swifts with both Jeremy Kirby  and George Liddiard reaching 30 while  Alex Edgington took 3 wickets and Oscar Taylor 2 . They faced Oxford ‘A’ in the next round but were outclassed as a strong batting display by Oxford saw them reach 162 ,only Jeremy with 27 reached double figures for Buscot.

The under 11 squad hope to be playing a few games in June but continue to train on a Friday evening.

( please note it is a fun event so no team of 6 professionals !, perhaps the parents of the junior players  could get a side or two together ). Raffle tickets will be on sale soon, if you cannot get to the event , please buy a ticket or if you can donate a prize that would be appreciated. It is important that all club members try to support any events which are organised by the club, we are trying to make improvements to the pavilion and cannot do this with the help of everyone.
