BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN v MARSHFIELD 3 on Sat 26 Jun 2010 at
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won By 5 Wickets
Match report
This home game saw the 2nds looking for 2 wins on the bounce against Marshfield 3rds, signs were ominous, when one of our players (Huw), didnt turn up on time, after some of the players had a heavy night out beforehand. Marshfield won the toss and decided to have a bat.
With usual openers Jonny, out with injury, and Namat, drafted into te first team, the new ball was left with the experienced heads of Slacky and Will. In sweltering conditions they bowled their alloted 12 overs straight thorugh, with 'The Destroyer' getting 3 wickets and Will claiming 1, this left Marshfield 84-4 from 24 overs an the game was finely in the balance. Due to alcohol levels, Capper's first few overs were ropey and due fitness and any other excuse he could think of as were Paul's, which left buscot chasing the game, but in fairness both men bought it back, wih the Captain taking one wicket and Capper taking his best ever figures of 5 for 42 off 8.2 overs. Good Lad. The bowling was backed up by a very good fielding performance, including debutant Jeremy Kirby, taking 2 great outfield catches and 1 behind the stumps.
After a good tea and the arrival of Huw, Buscot went out to bat and got off to a speedy start, thanks mainly to Monty hitting a quickfire 35, but after he was dismissed in the bizarre crcumstances of being bowled of a double bounced ball and wickets fell around him, it left Buscot in trouble at 52-4, this left Rob and Liam at the crease, they steadily built the innings and played some brilliant cricket as they started to swing the game in Buscot's favour, after the 2nd drinks break Liam reached his 2nd career 50 and the 2nds first of the season! the partnership also reached a seasonal bst for the team of 97 before Liam was bowled for 60, Paul then joined Rob at the crease and saw his team home with 5 wickets to spare with Rob finishing on 38 Not Out and providing a great anchor for the team. Another 20 points. 2 wins on the bounce. Well played lads!
