BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN v ALL CANNINGS on Sat 23 May 2009 at 2.00PM
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won BY 62 RUNS
Match report
The Bank Holiday weekend as usual meant more players were unavailable, the 2nds were required to field 6 players from the under 15 side , 4 who were making their senior debuts. On the plus side it meant our fielding would be a bit more athletic than normal !
We lost the toss and were put into bat , 14 year old Nic Moody opened with skipper Andy Morbey ,the pair made Buscot's best start to an innings this season with 51 on the board after 15 overs before Nic was bowled.Louis Bouwers was moved up the order to 3 (due to being the most experienced of the under 15's ! ) , fortunately it proved to be the correct decision as after a nervous start he began to play his shots to good effect. The 100 partnership came up in the 36th over shortly followed by Louis getting his first 50, the last 9 overs saw the pair score 81 runs including the skipper getting to his 100(sixteen 4's and one 6 ) in the final over while Louis finished on 87 not out (including eleven 4's )
A good start from the opening bowlers Mike Heasman and Josh Forth (on debut)was followed up by another 15 year old on his debut Ibrahim Husankhail getting a caught and bowled. The next wicket took awhile to come as All Cannings best batsmen were at the crease putting on nearly 80 before he went for another boundary but was caught by Rob Morbey off John Slack's bowling. The collapse followed as Will Townsend picked up 2 wickets and both Andy Capper and Zameer Niazy picked up a wicket on their debuts.
A good all round display this week with the junior players showing that all of them are ready to play league cricket this season which means we may have to start leaving players out instead of continually having to chase round looking to get enough to make up a side.!
