WARMINSTER 3 v BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN on Sat 22 Aug 2009 at 1.30PM
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won by 3 wickets
Match report
Buscot made the long trip to Warminster hoping to come away with a win and to the double over a team 2 places higher than themselves. We won the toss for a change and decided to have a bowl. Unfortunately Warminster got off to a good start reaching 56 for 0 off 11 overs but in Duncan Clark's first over he got both openers out. This did not seem to slow the batsmen down as they went for their shots and after 30 overs they were 151, Duncan picked up his 5th wicket and the scoring gradually slowed down. Andy Capper bowled the 40th over and proceeded to pick up a hat-trick (possibly youngest Buscot player to get a league hat-trick ) to end the innings. Warminster finished all out for 187 when there was a chance that we could have been chasing 200+.
Buscot were confident of putting up a good chase with a strong batting line up, Liam Farmer hit 21 and looked to be going well until he was caught, Ally Barron making his 2nd appearance in 15 years was out on 17 ,we lost a couple more wickets to leave us on 100 for 6 with 14 overs left. Warminster started to relax but with Andy Morbey and Louis Bouwers picking up singles and the odd four the run rate picked up, the opposition were now appealing for anything. Louis was then bowled for 40 in the 44th over , Mike Heasman came in and the last 8 runs were knocked off with 5 balls to spare.
This was our best away win of the season and another good run chase following on from last week.
Duncan Clarke took his maiden '5-wickets' so his figures of 5-47 are his best 2nd team league bowling figures beating his previous best of 3-47.
Andy Capper took the 2nds second league hattrick with wickets 8,9,10 (ct R Morbey, ct D Clarke, st A Morbey) with balls 3rd, 4th & 5th of his 3rd over.
