BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN v WINSLEY 3rds on Sat 15 Jun 2013 at 2.00
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won by 6 wickets (reduced to 40 overs each)

Match report With four changes from last weeks team we were looking again for our first win of the season against Winsley. The weather forecast was heavy rain sometime around lunchtime and clearing later so everyone arrived at the ground with the rain coming down hard and prospects of any play looking very doubtful. One hour later the rain stopped and the sun came out with the unusual sight of steam rising up from the grass and from the pavilion thatch. Play started at 3.05pm meaning it was now a 40 over match. Buscot had won the earlier toss and so Winsley were put into bat. The Buscot opening bowlers, Will Townsend and Patrick Slack bowled tightly with both only conceding 2.5 runs per over. Patrick took the first wicket and his replacement Paul Farmer took two wickets in his first two overs so with the score at 32-3 off 15 overs, we were in control of the game at this stage. The Winsley opening bat, Ged Roddy was scoring well at the other end and finished with 78 despite us taking regular wickets. Paul finished his 11 over spell with four wickets. Aaron Court and Jordan Morris took a wicket each with Aaron also taking a stooping catch on the boundary. Richard Gardiner then tempted their opener to a ball that span past him and Andy Morbey completed the stumping. The innings was closed when Jordan took a good catch off Richard's bowling. The Winsley final score was 129 all out after 39.3 overs so this should be a target within our reach. Herby Townsend and Andy Morbey put on an opening 70 partnership before the first wicket fell to a run out in the 21st over with Herbie scoring 32 to keep up his consistent start to the season. This was the start we wanted so now down to others to finish off the innings. Ally Barron came in and was looking comfortable picking off early runs before an unfortunate run out saw Ally heading back to the pavilion. Andy was out next for 35 but Clive Smith hit a couple of fours to bring us closer to the win before Jordan and Richard brought the score ever closer. Jordan hit a boundary towards the scoreboard to level the scores and in Rob's excitement of winning his first game as captain saw him falling flat on his face attempting to stop the ball, much to the amusement of all sat on the benches. Jordan then scored the winning run to give us our first win of the season. This was a good performance so the only thing to do now was to go to the Red Lion and celebrate the win. Whoever thought that we would be celebrating our first win of the season with Neil Diamond.......
