Dear All,
Many of you will already know that the club has applied for a premises
licence for the pavilion. As part of this process we need to make some minor
amendments to the club constitution. Our rules state that we can only do this at
an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). To facilitate this we are going to make
our next scheduled committee meeting on Thursday 27 March an EGM. As such any
members are welcome to come along and vote. The EGM will be just a one issue
meeting, that of confirming the amended constitution, as set out below, and will
not last long.
If you have any comments on the below and / or you wish to indicate your
support or otherwise please reply to this message. If you want to attend the EGM
you must let me know before hand – by Tuesday 25 March at the latest - so we can
judge numbers. The meeting at present will be at John Morton’s house at 7.30pm
Thursday 27 March.
The committee recommends we agree the changes as this will enable us to
have a licence at the pavilion and thus gain the benefits to the club this
promises.
The changes are:
Amendment:
The section in
brackets in 5.6 be amended to 'A person may not be admitted to membership or, as
a candidate for membership, enjoy the privileges of membership without an
interval of at least two days between their nomination/application for
membership and their admission; or where prior application is not required,
between their becoming members and their admission.'
Additions:
The purchase of
alcohol for the club and its supply to the club are to be managed by a committee
whose members are members of the club, elected to the position and are 18 years
or over.
All pecuniary
benefit from the purchase or supply of alcohol will be accrued by the club as a
whole only.
Alcohol may only be
supplied to members, their guests, associate members and their
guests.
Associate members
are defined as members of another recognized club.
John Morton will producing a draft amended Constitution and this will be
available on the website shortly.
Many thanks for your support,
Steve Mutch
