WOOTTON BASSETT 4 v BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN on Sat 05 Jun 2010 at
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Lost by 58 runs
Match report
On a blistering hot day, on what seemed a bit of a village green. Paul finally won the toss! and put Wootton Bassett 4's into bat.
Some tight opening spelld from Jonny and Iain restricted the opposition to 34 for 1 from 12 overs. After more decent bowling from Buscot and steady scoring from Bassett, they came up against Jon 'Soulcrusher' Slack, and he took out the middle order with 3 wickets, and then Iain came back into the attack to polish off the tail to finish with impressive figures of 5-18 from 9 overs. They were well supported by the 'Spin Twins', Andy Capper and Rich Gardiner. Bassett being bowled out for a decent score of 158. Although fielding was poor with several dropped catches and general mistakes, even Liam putting his football skillis to the test with a wonderful back-heel on to the helmet for 5 penalty runs.
Buscot then started their batting with the highest opening partnership to date with 26 being on the scoreboard before P.Farmer was caught, this then saw a steady Buscot collapse with Sabrullah making a career-best 24 and was the only batsmen who looked threatening towards the opposition, Buscot finally limped to a total of 100 all out.
The batting and fielding could have been better but the pitch did deterorate. So next week a better performance needed.
Iain Mills figures of 5-18 is the 2nd time he has taken 5 or more wickets in a league game for the 2nd's (both away).
