Match report A much harder game was anticipated than our last game especially once we had arrived and saw that Goatacre's team included Andy Sandell and Alan Griffin, both players playing well below their standard in division 7. Rob won the toss and took the unpopular decision among some to bat first. After 3 quick wickets,things settled down and Paul Farmer started to score quickly and finished on 55 before being caught on the boundary. Liam Court had joined Paul and was also getting runs quickly and Liam went on to score his maiden 50 in mens cricket. His 63 contained 15 fours. The final score was 184 so batting first was probably justified as it was our highest score for almost 5 years. 184 may have been good enough to win a lot of games but with Sandell and Griffin to open the batting, it would prove to be probably 200 runs short of what we needed. Griffin smashed 26 off one over before we had him caught but Sandell carried on at the other end and finished on 115no with 94 of them in boundaries. They knocked off the runs in the 18th over. The only consolation was that we didn't bowl first as our bowling attack would have suffered for longer than was necessary.

Paul Farmer's score of 55 is his 8th score of 50+ for the 2nd XI in league cricket (1 century and 7th fifty, 4 at home and 4th away).
Liam Court scored his maiden fifty for the 2nds so his score of 63 is his highest in league cricket for the 2nd's beating his previous highest score of 37.
