Match report 2nd team league debut for Will Thompson.

Rob won the toss again and this time elected to bowl. Purton batsmen started well and were scoring quickly and looking likely to get a big score on a warm day and the wicket playing well. Buscot began to take regular wickets with Liam Court, Patrick Slack, John Slack and Will Thompson all taking wickets. With the score on 148-7, a decision went against us and Purton then went onto to score a lot of late order runs and finished on 228 all out, probably about 60 more runs than it could have been. After losing a couple of wickets, Gary Thompson joined Andy Morbey at the crease and runs were being scored quickly with Gary going to his 50 quickly followed by Andy. The partnership was 116 before Gary was out for 63. Andy then went for 64 so Rob Morbey and Liam Court put on 44 before an unfortunate run out with 6 needed off 15 balls. The runs came in the next over to record a 4 wicket win. The 229 being our top score for over 5 years and the 2nds highest (known) winning run chase.

Andy Morbey's score of 64 is his 35th score of 50+ for the 2nd XI in league cricket (5 centuries and 30th fifty, 18th at home and 17 away) - not including 1996 as no information available for that season.
Gary Thompson scored his maiden fifty for the 2nds so his score of 63 is his highest in league cricket for the 2nd's beating his previous highest score of 30.
