Match report 2nd team league debut for Josh Davies.

The Wanborough innings started calmly with 41 scored after 15 overs. It was in the 15th over that Josh Davies in his 3rd over took his first league wicket for the 2nd XI, bowling their opening batsman. Josh then had the next two batsmen out LBW in his next two overs with Wanborough 61-3.
John Slack came on to replace Josh after his first spell in league cricket (5-1-8-3) and after only conceding 7 runs off 9 overs last week, John's first two balls both went for four but despite conceding more runs off his first two balls than in 9 overs last week, John then only conceded 18 in his last 8 overs, taking 2 wickets which included their most attacking batsman who had scored a fifty.
No bowler at the other end was getting much luck as no wickets were taken from the far end. Josh Davies came back on and took a further 3 wickets including being on a hattrick at one stage (although looking in the scorebook, the umpire called a 5 ball over so denied Josh an immediate chance to get a hattrick). Josh's hattrick ball in his next over was a dot ball.

Josh's 6-36 is the best 2nd XI bowling figures since Namat Ullah Jabakhail had figures of 11.1-3-29-6 away at Chippenham 4 in 2012.
Josh has also set a new record for the 2nd's best bowling figures in Division 9 beating Charlie Morgan's 4-26 away at Chippenham 4's in 2016 (our first season in Div 9).

Wanborough's score of 223 may prove too much for an inexperienced batting line up which only included 2 players who have ever scored more than 25 in a league game.

Jason Court's second run in this game was his 250th league run for the 2nds.
Craig Cook opened the batting and with the incentive of the captain buying him a pint if he could beat his top score of 19, Craig hit his 4th four but then smacked one straight to mid wicket to finish on 18.
Tom Lawrence scored another 15, same as last week. Tom also hit his 1st 6 for the 2nd XI.
Shaun Lawrence's score of 21 is his highest in league cricket for the 2's beating his previous highest of 10.
John Slack continued some good batting form this season to score 14.
Josh Davies scored 6 on his debut.
Matthew Lawrence's score of 2no is his highest in league cricket for the 2's beating his previous highest of 1no.

2nd's all time record against Wanborough is now Played 3, Won 1, Lost 2.

Still in 5th place so only 4 wins in last 4 games and other results to go our way will give us a chance to finish second. Everything to play for though.
