EAST & WEST HENDRED v BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB UNDER 13s on Sun 15 Jun 2008 at
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Lost
Match report
Hendred won the toss and put Buscot into bat. Nic and Harrison opened but the quick running we saw last week at Aston Rowant was not in evidence this week. However, they batted well until harrison was caught and bowled in the 6th over, having made 4 from a partnership of 22. Toby Dibble then joined Nic at the crease but was dismissed after 4 overs on 7. Harry Stevens then joined Nic, who was on 19 at the time, and retired on 30 in the 14th over. Harry had to retire in the 17th over having made 30 for the second week running!! Rob O'Kelly batted strongly before he was run out in the final over. George Buck and Scott Peaper were both not out at the end of the innings.
Hendred then came out to bat, and raced away at over 8 an over. One opener was bowled by Peaper (making his debut for Buscot) in the 4th over. Rob O'kelly bowled their no 3 for a duck in the next over, and Buscot were hopeful of turning the match around. However Hendred opener Wynne and captain Beckley had other plans abd put on a strong batting performance, with Wynne retiring on 30. the next wicket did not fall until the 14th over when Harry Stevens caught and bowled the no 5 batsman. there had been a number of dropped and missed catches between the 2nd and 3rd wickets, and the Buscot players had their heads down. The fielding was poor compared to the cup match and we need to wake up in the field and take our catches!! Matt Davis came on in the 15th over and took 2 wickets in 2 balls, and Toby Dibble took two wickets in the 18th over. Buscot finally started swhowing some enthusiasm in the field, but with only 5 neede to win off the last 2 overs, we had left it too late. hendred finished off the match in the 19th over, finishing on 104 for 7, with captain D Beckley finishing the match off with a 4 to make his 30.
