SWINDON 5ths v BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN on Sat 12 Jun 2021 at 13.00

Match report 2nd team league debuts for Dan Edwards and Dave Morbey.
With Dave becoming the 4th Morbey (John, Andy, Rob, Dave) they join a few other family names with 4 members playing league cricket for the 2nd XI such as Heasman (Jeff, Mike, Bob, Roy), Fernandes (Ronny, Manny, Jerry, Frank), Edgington (Geoff, Chris, Richard, Nick), Court (Jason, Liam, Aaron, Josh) and Lawrence (Shaun, Karen, Tom, Matthew). The Slack's are the most represented family name to play league cricket for the 2nds with 5 members (John, Oliver, Tom, Patrick, Reuben).
It is the 1st time that 3 brothers have played in the same 2nd XI league game. The Court brothers (Liam, Aaron, Josh) were due to play in the same game a few seasons ago with their dad Jason but unfortunately the game was forfeited by the opposition denying Jason the chance to play in the same team with his 3 sons.

Paul Farmer's first wicket in this game was his 100th league wicket for the 2nds. Paul's first 100 wickets were 35 at home and 65 away, 38 bowled, 38 caught, 14 LBW and 10 stumped. Best bowling figures of 6-55 and twice taking 5 or more wickets in a game. Paul achieved 100 wickets in his 142nd game for the 2nds and 65th game bowled in. Paul's 100th wicket came in approx his 457th over (can't know for sure as can't see from scorecard which over he took his 1st wicket in this game).

Paul is now in 7th place on the all-time wicket leader list for 2nd XI league games behind Will Townsend 618 +1996 wickets, John Slack 272, Chris Edgington 164 +1996 wickets, Jeff Heasman 158, Mike Tuffnell 116, Mike Heasman 110. Glenn Townsend has 96 wickets plus 1996 season and Tony Watts has 99 wickets plus any from 1999 if he played in 2nds that season.

Paul has now become only the 3rd 2nd team player to achieve the 1000 league runs and 100 league wickets double. With 2502 runs and 102 wickets, Paul joins Jeff Heasman who scored 1951 runs and took 158 wickets and Will Townsend who scored a known 1090 runs and took 618 wickets (not including 1996 season for Will as no records as yet). Tony Watts has 1463 runs and 99 wickets but we have no scorebook for 1999 so if he took a 2nd XI wicket in 1999 he will also have reached 1000 runs and 100 wickets for the 2nd's.

Dan Edwards took his first 2 league wickets for the 2nd XI so 2-30 are his best 2nd XI league bowling figures.

Hamish Millar scored 18 which means his 2nd XI league average at this moment is 213.00 (213 runs from 3 innings, 2 not outs). This is the highest ever 2nd XI league average at any point of any season, beating the previous highest which was 159.40 as at 15 Aug 15 by Andy Morbey who had scored 797 runs from 12 innings, 7 not outs.
Hamish's 213 runs between dismissals (109no, 86no and 18) in the 2nd XI is 3rd most ever behind Andy Morbey who scored 458 runs between dismissals in 2015 (85no, 57no, 69no, 75no, 100no and 72) and 246 by Andy Morbey in 2009 (59no, 100no, 80no and 7).

Paul Farmer's 37th run in this game was his 2500th league run for the 2nds. Paul's 2500 runs were 1199 at home and 1301 away, highest score of 108no, 1 hundred and 11 fifties. Paul is 4th on the all-time run leader list for 2nd XI league games behind Andy Morbey 7473, Des Williams 3191 and Ray O'Neill 2529. Paul achieved 2500 runs in his 142nd game and 138th innings.

Dan Edwards scored 22 on his 2nd XI league debut.
Dave Morbey scored 11 on his 2nd XI league debut.

2nd's all time league record against Swindon is now Played 11, Won 3, Lost 8.

Milestones approaching ;-
Patrick Slack needs 5 more wickets to reach 100 league wickets for the 2's.
Andy Morbey needs 5 more dismissals to reach 300 known league catches and stumpings for the 2's.
Rob Morbey needs 10 more estimated runs to reach 2500 league runs for the 2's (includes 30 estimated for 1996 as no records as yet).

Stuart Burchett needs 33 more runs to reach 500 league runs for the 2's.
John Slack needs 36 more runs to become only the 2nd player to reach the 250 runs / 250 wickets league double for the 2's.
Mike Heasman needs 47 more runs to become only the 4th known player to reach the 1000 runs / 100 wickets league double for the 2's.
