ALL CANNINGS v BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 1st ELEVEN on Sat 22 May 2010 at
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won by 7 wickets
Match report
On the hottest day of the summer so far the majority of the Buscot team were hoping to bat first, but the news that they were fielding led to a few moans and groans (yes i won the toss and decided to field ! ). The mood got worse as Hamish had got stuck in traffic and we started with 10.The mood changed in the 1st over as All Cannings prolific run getter was run out trying to take a second run to the arm of Chris White.Namet on his 1st team debut took the next wicket and impressed with his accuracy. Will Townsend returned to 1st team action after a few years away and after a settling down bowled his last 8 overs for only 12 runs.Steady bowling from all the bowlers left All Cannings on 183 for 8 off their 45 overs.Hamish made up for his late arrival with 2 catches, the 1st being a spectacular run and dive to get to the ball.
After tea the captain and his 2nd in command sat down to do the scorebooks in the shade in the hope they would not have to move after a week of phone calls / text messages and 45 overs they needed a rest !
Hamish and Chris opened but Chris went early but Hamish continued his run of form scoring 46 when he was caught with the score on 60,John Morton making his 1st appearance of the season joined Duncan and they took the score to 95 before Duncan was run out.Louis then came to the wicket in the 28th over and after a nervous start proceeded to hit the bowling attack to all parts of the ground including a 6 over the road and into the garden of the All Cannings skipper. The game was won in the 39th over with John looking comfortable scoring 36 n.o and Louis 67 n.o to record his 2nd highest league score, his highest of 87 n.o being against guess who.
22 points for the win took the team to the top of the table .
