WOOTTON BASSETT 3 v BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 1st ELEVEN on Sat 26 Jun 2010 at 2.00 pm
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won by 5 wickets
Match report
On a day when everyone wanted to bat first due to the weather, the toss was important to win . Sorry ! we went out to field and Namat had the opener caught behind in his 1st over, the next 2 batsmen proved more difficult to remove , Namat bowled his 6 over spell tidily for 13 runs while Chris B struggled to get any consistency going for 30 off his 6.It wasn't until the 20th over that we made the breakthrough when Duncan bowled the no.3, the important wicket of the opening bat came when Duncan took a diving one handed catch off his own bowling (yes , that's right Slacky, a Coleshill bowler who doesn't use his shin ! )for some reason the batsman didn't want to go ,maybe shock ! until the umpires spoke and off he went with his 56 runs .Chris came back and took 2 wickets while Mike took the wicket of Wootton's no.4 who was hitting the ball well. Mike's juggling skills came to the fore when he finally held on to it on the 4th or 5th attempt. Namat took the last 2 wickets to finish with fine bowling figures of 3 for 15 off 8.2.
Chasing 171 we got off to a good start with the unorthodox batting of Subrallah and the more conventional batting of Hamish putting on 75 before Subrallah (also now known as Sabrina) went for 28.The rest of the team relaxed in the shade although Louis falling asleep while scoring after a night out ,then using his pads as a cushion may have been a bit too relaxed !Duncan came in and it looked like we were going to get home comfortably with Hamish passing 50 before the legendry Buscot collapse appeared with 4 wickets going down for 16 runs. The skipper came in for a rare bat and assisted Hamish in reaching the total with 3 overs too spare, Hamish again showing his class with the bat scoring 92.
A good day all round as Keevil lost and we went 10 points clear at the top of the table.
