BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN v LACOCK 2nds on Sat 18 May 2013 at 2.00
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Lost by 142 runs

Match report The 2nds first home game of the season came with three changes to the previous weeks team, playing against Lacock who along with Buscot were promoted from division 8 last year. Rob Morbey won the toss for the 2nd week running and again decided to bowl first. Lacock avoided an early run out chance and steadied themselves after this. Wickets were taken regularly but runs were also being scored at a decent run rate. The Lacock no6 came in with perhaps Buscot slightly on top of the game and looking to contain Lacock to below 150. Matt Lever from Lacock decided to go on the rampage and smack the ball to all corners of the ground and in one over Buscot conceded 29 runs (1,4,6,6,6,6). The batsman told us his highest previous score was 33 so it was just one of those days where he was in the zone to hit anything no matter if it was a good or bad ball. Thankfully he did this against one of our senior players rather than our young 13-14 year olds who's confidence to bowl could have been destroyed. John Slack finished his spell with 4 wickets in the space of 6 balls and ended with another 5 wicket haul. John already has 13 wickets in three games (including 1st team) so at this rate will be looking to match his achievement from 2012 of being the divisions highest wicket taker. George James again bowled well and Patrick Slack is matching Will Townsend with his accurate and economical bowling. Will again took 2 wickets and conceded his usual miserly 2 runs per over from 12 overs. Jordan Morris started his first bowling spell of the season quite tightly and deserved two wickets but was unfortunate to come up against their big hitter later on. Two catches each from Andy Capper and Jordan Morris came in a mixed fielding display by Buscot with some good fielding and some difficult chances missed. Lacock's total of 212 all out was always likely to be out of reach and this proved way too many as regular Buscot wickets fell. Rob Morbey top scored with 20 in a disappointing total of 70 all out with Liam Farmer (11) the only other batsman to reach double figures. Charlie Morgan showed that he can bat for lots of overs and shared in a 31 stand to try and creep the total to 75 to gain a batting point. One batsman for Lacock took the game away from Buscot but on this batting performance we would not have been in the game anyway. Hopefully next week we can look for our first win.....

John Slack's figures of 5-88 is the 7th time that he has taken 5 or more wickets in a league game for the 2nd's (2nd at home and 5 away).
