BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Lost by 5 runs
Match report
2nd team league debut for Oliver Slack.
Buscot bowled first and were soon looking for the ball as North Bradley's number 2 decided to go on the attack and took 32 of the first 4 overs.Mike Heasman and Tony Watts then took a wicket each in the 6th and 7th over and things calmed down as the score reached 46 for 3 off 15 overs.Mike Heasman took another 2 wickets and then had a big shout for a caught behind turned down which was to prove expensive as the batsman went on to reach 52. 'Stan' returned figures of 12-6-12-3 (his last 3 matches 36-20-36-6 ).Paul Farmer then came on to bowl and took a career best of 10.2-1-55-6 as North Bradley reached 178 all out.
Buscot lost an early wicket but Will Oglesby and Andy Morbey took the total to 48 before Will was caught.Tony Watts then put on 66 with the skipper as we kept up with the run rate. The score reached 143 when Andy Morbey on 67 was caught by a diving North Bradley fielder just behind square. This left Buscot needing 36 off 9 overs with 5 wickets left.Mike Heasman held the tail end together as we reached 172 with one over left, John Slack was bowled with the 1st delivery of the last ball,a dot ball, then a scrambled bye left Mike needing to hit a boundary as all the fielders lined up around the boundary ,unfortunately it was not to be as Mike was bowled on the the last ball of the innings
Paul Farmer took his maiden '5-wickets' so his figures of 6-55 are his best 2nd team league bowling figures beating his previous best of 2-9.
Andy Morbey's score of 67 is his 24th score of 50+ for the 2nd XI in league cricket (4 centuries and 20th fifty, 10 at home and 14th away) - not including 1996 as no information available for that season.
