BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 1st ELEVEN v BURBAGE & EASTON ROYALS 3rds on Sat 14 Jul 2018 at 13.00
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won by 3 wickets

Match report Another glorious saturday arrived, and so did skippys losing streak with the coin! Unsurpringly, Burbage decided to have a bat!

Thatch and Charlie Symonds opened the bowling, but it wasn't until the earlier introduction of Aaron that wickets began to fall. A great spell from him (4 for 24) and support from Matt reduced the opposition to 41 for 5 after 14 overs. Unfortunately, the next 2 wickets proved very difficult to take with the score moving to 108 before we took the 6th, and 203 before the 7th. Disappointing though that was, it was pleasing to then wrap up the innings with the final 3 wickets only getting the score to 219, with Andy Barron taking 3 for 43 at the end.

Tea (and relief from the sun) was taken in reasonably good spirits, as the score was thought a way below par given how easy the pitch was playing, and the lightning outfield.

Charlie Morgan and Hamish got the innings under way, but Charlie went quite early with the score at 11. This brought Ronny to the crease, who proceeded to score freely. Hamish went with the score on 43, but with Aaron joining Ronny, the scoreboard moved even more quickly. Unfortunately, both fell within 5 runs of each other leaving the score at 107 for 4. Skippy and Blunders (in his first innings for the club) steadied the ship, adding 60 for the 5th wicket, followed by Blunders and Thatch adding another 24 before Blunders innings came to an end on 38 much needed runs. Charlie Symonds then played a little cameo, hitting two sixes in his 19, before being sawn off by his senior partner who called him for a suicidal single! Luckily though, only 4 more were required now, which duly came in one blow to see us home to a 3 wicket win.

A very enjoyable game, and good to see that everyone chipped in for a good win.

Stats from the game ;-

Aaron Court's 4-24 is his best 1st team league bowling figures beating his previous best of 3-28.

Gavin Blundell's first innings for the 1st XI in his 3rd game so 38 is his highest score in league cricket for the 1st's.
Charlie Symonds score of 19 is his highest in league cricket for the 1st's beating his previous highest score of 10.

The score of 220-7 is the 1st XI's equal 3rd highest score at home batting second (highest scores batting 2nd at home are 273 and 248 but both times lost). Scoring 220 is the 1st's highest ever score at home in a winning run chase. The previous highest winning run chase at home was 204-4 off 39.4 overs to win by 6 wickets at home to Minety in 2003.
The highest winning run chase overall is 292-4 off 40.4 overs to win by 6 wickets away at Trowbridge A in 2010.
