Match report 2nd team league debut for Josh Kirk.

The 2nds went to leaders Wootton Bassett and were asked to field on a good batting track, openers Mike Heasman and Josh Kirk kept it to 38 after 15 overs but the next 15 overs went for 111 runs. Bassetts openers were out on 123 and then on 124 , the middle order continued to punish the bad ball and ended with 233 for 8.
The score ended on 232 for 8 with John Slack taking 5 wickets while Mike annd Josh Kirk were both unlucky not to pick up a wicket.Chasing the target , Monty Green was first out , Louis Bouwers reached 25.The 4th wicket patnership of 122 between Andy and Rob Morbey made the score respectable before Rob was out in the last over much to Mike's disgust having to come in and face 5 ball from the quick bowler.Andy Morbey finished unbeaten on 80 , 10 year old Patrick Slack made another appearance due to the unavailability of others.The difference between the sides was probably the 1st appearance of the season from Bassett's opening bowler, on the plus point was the fielding and catching of the junior players including Monty.

John Slack's figures of 5-70 is the 3rd time that he has taken 5 or more wickets in a league game for the 2nd's (1 at home and 2nd away).
Andy Morbey's score of 80no is his 29th score of 50+ for the 2nd XI in league cricket (5 centuries and 24th fifty, 13 at home and 16th away) - not including 1996 as no information available for that season.
