COLLINGBOURNE v BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB 2nd ELEVEN on Sat 13 Jun 2009 at 2.00PM
BUSCOT PARK CRICKET CLUB Won by 101 runs
Match report
The 2nds were put into bat and both openers were soon out leaving the score at 10 for 2 of 7 overs, this meant 15 year olds Louis and Liam were left to get the innings going.Liam started slowly leaving Louis to smash the ball around before he was bowled out for 30 with the score at 46, James Timber and Mike Heasman scored 20 and 16 respectively before 3 quick wickets left us on 114 for 9 with 10 overs left.John Slack joined Liam at the wicket and they put on an unbeaten 54 partnership with Liam reaching his maiden 50 and finishing on 61 not out while John blocked anything Collingbourne bowled at him.Buscot finished on 168 which at one stage seemed very unlikely and the tea time atmosphere was a lot more lively.
Collingbourne started well with 26 off 4 overs before Will had the opener caught behind, Mike and Will then changed the ends they were bowling from and Mike took a wicket from his 1st over at the new end. The Collingbourne skipper was out thanks to Rob Morbey's stunning catch , the opening batsman went next to a diving catch from Louis Bouwers for 33(still not sure if he dived after catching it ! )and the collapse began. Will was first to 5 wickets and then Mike got his much desrved 5 wickets as we bowled them out for 67.
Liam Farmer scored his maiden fifty for the 2nds so his score of 61no is his highest in league cricket for the 2nd's beating his previous highest score of 12.
Mike Heasman took his maiden '5-wickets' for the 2nd XI so his figures of 5-35 are his best 2nd team league bowling figures.
Will Townsend's figures of 5-14 is the 27th time that he has taken 5 or more wickets in a league game for the 2nd's (12 at home and 15th away) - not including 1996 as no information available for that season.
It is the first time in 2nd XI league games that two bowlers have taken 5 wickets in the innings.
